How I’ll Support You
Welcome! I am glad you are here.
As a Black female therapist, I understand that the journey toward healing does not happen in a vacuum. Our experiences can be shaped by family, culture, identity, relationships, community, and the expectations placed on us by society. Sometimes, you may find yourself carrying responsibilities for everyone around you while quietly wondering, “Who is taking care of me?” You may have learned to be strong, dependable, and resilient even when you were hurting inside. And while your strength has carried you through difficult moments, you deserve a space where you do not always have to be the strong one.
That is where therapy can become an important part of your journey.
I work with teenagers and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, family concerns, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, or experiences from the past that continue to affect the present. You don't have to arrive with everything figured out. You can come with questions, uncertainty, frustration, or even simply the feeling that something in your life isn't quite working anymore.
Our work together will be collaborative. Rather than giving you a list of instructions for how you should live your life, I want to understand your experiences, your values, and your goals. I use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, and other evidence-based techniques to help you examine unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier ways of responding to challenges, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and make meaningful changes at a pace that feels manageable.
I also recognize the importance of understanding the person beyond the presenting concern. Your family, culture, community, relationships, identity, and life experiences can all influence how you see yourself and the world around you. For Black clients especially, there may be experiences that are difficult to put into words or experiences that you have learned to simply “deal with.” Therapy can give you an opportunity to explore those experiences without having to minimize them or immediately move past them.
At the same time, I want you to know that you don't have to come to therapy because something is “wrong” with you. Therapy can also be a place to understand yourself more deeply, build confidence, navigate a transition, improve your relationships, or become more intentional about the life you are creating.
Maybe you've been telling yourself that you should be able to handle it. Maybe you've been putting yourself last for a long time. Maybe you know you want something to change but aren't quite sure where to begin.
You don't have to know the answer before you reach out.
Taking the first step can be as simple as scheduling a conversation and giving yourself permission to explore what you need. I would be honored to meet you where you are and work alongside you as you move toward greater clarity, confidence, and fulfillment.
You have spent enough time being there for everyone else. It may be time to make room for you.
